introduction

Welcome to the upside down music blog. You are probably curious as to what an upside down music blog is and why you should bother reading it. In this post I will tell you a bit about myself and what my goals are for this blog.

My name is Bazzle C. and I am a bass player, tuba player and general practitioner of the low end. I am classically trained on tuba, studied with notable players in the Washington D.C. area and minored in Tuba performance while in college. I have been playing bass guitar since 2007 and my passion for it has never faded.  I have played such diverse gigs as a broadway style musical, full symphony orchestra, brass quintet, chamber orchestra. jazz band, funk/reggae, doom metal, melodic/technical death metal as well as some old-fashioned street busking. but enough about my credentials lets talk about this blog!

I would say about 80% of the music I listen to on a regular basis falls into some subgenre of metal. I have always loved the genre because it combines the technicality and musicianship of styles like jazz or classical with the immediacy of rock & roll. Having said that, there is a vast world of music outside of that and part of the purpose of this blog is to share my musical journey into the endless sea of music out there.

Structure: My blog posts will consist of up to 4 distinct sections. First I will have a "First Impressions" review ,which is to say that I will have a paragraph or two made just of thoughts made on  my very first time listening to an album as I feel there are certain thoughts and impressions that will be lost after first listen. To give this section of the review as much objectivity as possible I will avoid doing too much research about the album beforehand such as when it was recorded, what drugs the artist  was on, what obscure studio techniques were done etc. As long as I have a reason to believe its worth checking out.

Second, there will be a meat and potato regular review. I can't say too much about this other than I will give my best shot at an honest to goodness music review.

The Third section, which may or may not be included is called The "Listen". I won't give too much away on this, but the keener of you will understand what this means.

Lastly, I will have at least a paragraph or two talking specifically about the bass on an album. I feel that in general the bass is something that most reviewers either talk about very briefly or outright ignore. This is the upside down music blog where bass is at the top and being at the top, bass commands your and my attention.
